The goal of the Flood Control District is to balance its available tools and resources to maximize public protection and minimize risk from flooding events for optimal flood hazard mitigation. The District implements four strategic programs to achieve this goal:
Public Outreach
A comprehensive District program educates County residents about flood hazards, flood safety and District projects through print and broadcast media, school and community presentations, public meetings and its Web site, www.fcd.maricopa.gov. The program includes public information via the media, public involvement at public meetings and community presentations, and education through school presentations, public service announcements and the District's Web site. For more information on public outreach, please see the Public Information & Flood Safety section of this Web site.

This flood control infrastructure is designed and built as determined by the Capital Improvement Program (CIP), a five-year plan that prioritizes and provides funding for capital improvement projects. For more information on remediation, please see the Projects section of this Web site.
