THINK Flood Smart
Be aware of the power of water. Stay clear of washes during a monsoon storm and do not attempt to cross a wash that is flooded. Water flowing at a depth of just six inches can sweep a person off their feet.
DRIVE Flood Smart Never attempt to drive through a flooded roadway. A water depth of only two feet can cause a vehicle to float. A roadway could be washed out underneath the water. In addition, if you drive past a barricade, become stranded in a flooded roadway and require an emergency rescue, you will be required to pay for a portion of the cost of the rescue per the state's “Stupid Motorist Law.”
LIVE Flood Smart Protect your property with flood insurance, even if located outside of an official mapped floodplain. Nearly 25 percent of all flood insurance claims come from outside high-risk flood areas.
