The Flood Control District's public information office maintains a close partnership with print, television, radio and online media, along with municipal/state governments and emergency responders in order to keep Maricopa County residents informed about District flood control projects, potential flood hazards, up-to-date rainfall and water flow data, and flood safety awareness information.
The District is at the forefront of flood detection in Maricopa County. The District maintains 24-hour, real-time rainfall and stream flow data monitoring throughout the County via the ALERT system. If a potential flooding situation is detected by District staff monitoring the ALERT system, the media and the National Weather Service are notified and the necessary warnings are issued to the public.
What's New at the District
The task of flood hazard identification, prevention, regulation and remediation is an ongoing process for District personnel. On any given day, District personnel are actively involved in flood control projects throughout Maricopa County.
