Description: The 75th Avenue Storm Drain and Durango Regional Conveyance Channel (DRCC) Project will provide an interim regional outfall for the City of Phoenix and is the first phase of the DRCC Project. The area North of the Union Pacific Railroad has flood hazards. The Project improvements will reduce the flooding hazards and remove approximately 71 structures from a identified floodplain. The Project was requested by the City of Phoenix for inclusion into the District's Capital Improvement Program in FY 2001/2002. The City is the lead for design of both projects (Storm Drain and DRCC) of the Project. The design is nearing completion. The City is the lead for construction of the storm drain. Phase 1 of the storm drain is under construction. The District is the lead for construction of the DRCC, which is expected to go to construction in January 2007. The construction project includes excavation of a basin and channel (approx. 680,000 cy), installation of 2,700 ft of 66" reinforced concrete pipe, construction of a reinforced concrete box culvert and construction of a reinforced concrete drop structure.
