Released October 11, 2002

Installation Instructions

A full installation of DDMSW 2.1.0 is required. Previous versions such as 1.8 and 1.5 cannot be upgraded to DDMSW 2.1.0. Before a full installation of DDMSW 2.1.0 is performed, you must save all DDMSW projects to a different or new folder, and then import them back to DDMSW 2.1.0. Please follow the instructions below.

Step 1 Back up DDMSW 1.8 projects if you already have DDMSW 1.8 on your computer (if you do not have DDMSW 1.8 on your computer or do not need the previous DDMSW 1.8 projects, you can go to Step 2 directly).

Step 1.1 Launch DDMSW 1.8.

Step 1.2 Go to File => Management => Backup Project => Select a project => click on Backup button (the selected project will be saved to the "backup" folder under DDMSW 1.8 installation folder in zip format (note: you will need to import this zip file into DDMSW 2.1.0 after DDMSW 2.1.0 is installed later).

Step 1.3 Back up all DDMSW 1.8 projects as in Step 1.2.

Step 1.4 Copy the backup projects in zip files to a new folder outside the DDMSW 1.8 installation folder (note: you will need to import all zip files into DDMSW 2.1.0 after DDMSW 2.1.0 is installed later).

Step 2 Download and install full version of DDMSW 2.1.0 (Before the installation, check if you have done Step 1).

Step 2.1 Click here and choose "Save this program to disk" to download the self-extracting file DDMSW210INSTALL.EXE to a new folder (for example, c:\ddmsw210download) on your PC. (please make sure it has 30,116,352 bytes, otherwise re-download it).

Step 2.2 Double-click on DDMSW210INSTALL.EXE to self-extract files in this folder (for example, c:\ddmsw210download).

Step 2.3 Locate Setup.exe in this folder (for example, c:\ddmsw210download) and double-click on Setup.exe to install DDMSW 2.1.0.

Step 2.4 Follow the installation process to finish the installation (you can install it to a folder other than the default folder C:\FCDMC\DDMSW during the installation process).

Step 3 Initial Setup of DDMSW 2.1.0 after the Installation:

Step 3.1 Launch DDMSW 2.1.0 by clicking on the Start menu => Programs => Ddmsw => FCDMC DDMSW (or directly click on ddmsw.exe under the installation folder, the default folder is c:\fcdmc\ddmsw).

Step 3.2 Click on the "OK" button on a pop-up dialog, click on the "I Agree" button if you agree with the disclaimer, click on the close button on the Projects list menu => File => Setup => Click on the button for Help Reader to locate AcroRd32.exe on your PC (normally it is located at c:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 5.0\Reader\) => Click on AcroRd32.exe and Select OK button => Click the Close button . This step will set up the path to Acrobat PDF Reader (all help files are in PDF format).

Step 3.3 If you already have created a project, then go to File => Select Project => Click on the project on Project ID column => Click on Title => Click on the button for Path to Model Runs => Click on modlruns under c:\fcdmc\ddmsw (the default folder is c:\fcdmc\ddmsw\modlruns, but you can select a different folder on your PC) => Click on Select button. If you are going to create a new project, then go to File => New Project => Click on the button for Path to Model Runs => Click on modlruns under c:\fcdmc\ddmsw (the default folder is c:\fcdmc\ddmsw\modlruns, but you can select a different folder on your PC) => Click on Select button. This step will set up the path to model runs (where the hec-1 output files will be stored).

Step 3.4 If there are any backup files (in zip format) from DDMSW 1.8 (see Step 1), you can import them into DDMSW 2.1.0 now: File => Management => Import Project => Import => locate the folder which contains all backup projects => click on a zip file at a time to import them into DDMSW 2.1.0.
