The Board of Supervisors appointed Phoenix resident Enrique Medina Ochoa to fill the office of Downtown Justice of the Peace. The seat was left vacant by the retirement of Jimmie Hernandez in May.
Medina Ochoa has served as Executive Director of both Arizona Fair Housing Center, Inc. and the Arizona Asian Chamber of Commerce. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Stanford University.
“Enrique has been involved in projects in the community for so many years from so many angles...from a business and community and social service side. Maricopa County will be well served,” said District 5 Supervisor Steve Gallardo.
The Board selected Medina Ochoa from applications submitted from residents of the Downtown Justice Precinct. He will serve out the unexpired term through 2018. The next election for Downtown Justice of the Peace will be the 2018 primary.
“I will do my best to be just, equitable, and fair,” said Medina Ochoa before taking the oath of office.
